Microcosmic God

Microcosmic God (1941)

Theodore Sturgeon

Initially fascinating tale of brilliant biochemist creating and evolving a tiny race of beings so that they might surpass man's knowledge and thereby add to his own flags somewhat during its pedestrian climax. Still a fine story. Finished 4th in an SFWA poll of the best sf short stories prior to 1965.
