A Winter Amid The Ice

A Winter Amid the Ice (1855)

Jules Verne

Long adventure tale set in the North Polar regions. The captain of a French merchant ship is lost attempting to rescue a Norwegian crew in distress; his father, fiancée, and obstructive romantic rival lead the search for him, which takes them onto the ice during the polar winter. Melodramatic, but interesting for the detail Verne brings to their adventures on and among the ice floes.
